Bones: The Finger in the Nest

September 18th 2008 02:40

Booth's son, Parker finds a finger in a birds nest. The rest of the remains are found and the effort to find the cause of death leads the team to an illegal dog fighting ring.

Maybe it's just me and my love of animals, but I really liked and appreciated this episode and I hope that this episode helps to raise awareness of animal cruelty. Dr. Brennan's monologue at the end brought a tear to my eye and you can really feel that the writer wrote it specifically to the audience.

Cesar Milan guest stars in this episode to help control the dogs that are taken in for examination to find out which dog was the attacker of the victim. I really enjoyed him in the episode and his interaction with Dr. Brennan and the dogs at the lab. I also enjoyed Dr. Brennan's grad student assistant as well. From the start I knew he was only going to be around from the episode, but that didn't keep me from enjoying the character. Especially his connection to Hodgins.

Also in this episode we finally get some progress on the Angela/Hodgins story line. There is a great scene toward the end where Hodgins goes to see Dr. Sweets. It was great to see Dr. Sweets outside of his usual role of comedy relief or the butt of some joke. John Francis Daley plays a very convincing Psychologist.

There was only one thing that bugged me. The evidence linking everything thing together was probably the weakest I've seen on the show. The stuff they put together would never hold up in court.

I think fans of the show are going to really like this episode and let me end on a personal note. Please report any suspicion of animal cruelty to the authorities and help lessen this abomination that runs more rampant than most of us realize. Thanks you.

And they thank you too
