Dollhouse: My thoughts on the first season

I am a huge, HUGE, Joss Whedon fan. I'm talking, like, everything he's done. Buffy, Angel, Firefly, Dr. Horrible, Serenity, and the other couple movies he's done. The man can do no wrong in my book. Dollhouse is no exception.
While the pilot and the first few episodes did not blow me away I knew they were necessary for setting up the premise of the show. Dollhouse has an enormous potential to be something really great if given the chance. I thought the show got better and better with every episode.
My biggest, and really only, problem with the show is that I feel Eliza Dushku is miscast as the lead. I just don't think it's a good role for her because she isn't that strong of a character actor. And in a show that requires her to sometimes be two or three different people per episode makes the role not a good for for her. Thank goodness for the amazing supporting cast then. They're the ones who really drive the series for me. I especially enjoy the performances of Tahmoh Penikett, Harry J. Lennix, and Fran Kranz. Actually other than Dushku, there isn't really a character that I don't enjoy seeing on screen. Also the casting Alan Tudyk as the mysterious Alpha was absolute brilliance. he was born for that role.
I really hope that this show is brought back for another season. The writing for the show is right up there with Joss's other shows. Although it wasn't at first, it got way, way better as the season progressed. I really, really, hope it comes back to continue the story that we only got a taste of so far.
