Fringe: My Thoughts on the First Season
May 14th 2009 22:56
I love this show, but even I will admit that the show had a pretty slow and rocky start. I wanted so much to like it when it first hit the air. At first the story lines of each episode were too, for lack of a better word, silly. Almost every episode had me scratching my head saying, at least once: "Really?" Even for a science fiction show, it was hard to swallow what they were trying to explain and investigate.
All that turned around for me once I saw episode 10: Safe. As soon as I was done viewing the episode I said: "That's what this show should have been doing from the beginning". That episode was a big turning point for the show. It was on a steady incline from that moment on. Now the show is easily one of my favorites on television right now.
So why do I like it so much? Well, right now I say: What's not to like?(if you're a fan on the genre) It's intriguing, it's mysterious with a little bit of horror thrown in. I laugh out loud at least a couple times per episode.
The cast has come together beautifully. They all have great on screen chemistry. Especially Joshua Jackson and John Noble, who play Father and Son. I swear John Noble better get an Emmy nomination or something for his role on this show. The emotion range he portrays is nothing short of extraordinary.
I am absolutely stoked for the next season. The season finale kicked the show into next gear and has set up a very expansive story for us to get read for.
