Heroes: I Am Become Death

October 7th 2008 03:55
Personally, I really liked this episode, but again we get teased with the future and we'll probably never get the whole story of how everyone gets together.

While I liked this episode, well more than I didn't like it, I can't help but think: Didn't they do this already? Isn't this what the whole first season was about, trying to keep a disaster in the future from happening? Now it's just a different disaster. I don't like it so far, cause no matter how much you try and influence the past or present, it will never be perfect. You keep one bad thing from happening, there's just another one that will inevitably happen, so what, are you just going to keep going to the past to change things over and over?

There are also a few holes I thought stood out. 1) Peter has never had to take an ability from anyone, he just absorbs it. He was doing it before he even knew he had the ability. So the first time he met Sylar he would have absorbed it, granted he wouldn't know how to use it, but he would have still had it. 2) So what, Claire used some magic bullets to kill future Perter? As far as I can tell she never shot him in the back of the head or anything, just in the chest. So how is he dead? I hope they explain that.

The first season was so much more thought out and better constructed. For a while now the show has been over looking way to much, and not explaining enough. The show is going to start losing viewers fast if they don't get it together.

What did you think of the episode?

Heroes: One of Us, One of Them

September 30th 2008 03:47

Heroes is a very difficult show to review, episode by episode, but I'm going to attempt it anyway. It's just so dang fun.

This episode, along with last week's premier, has busted open so many different possible story lines. This week's episode does an okay job of continuing the story. I say that because we actually start getting some answers to some of the many, MANY, questions that the premier brought up. Even though this episode brings up just as many questions that it began to answer.

I have to mention Zachary Quinto(Sylar). I thought he was absolutely brilliant in this episode. Until this episode he hasn't had to vary his acting style much to play Sylar. It looked like he had a lot of fun exploring the new direction that his character is going.

I am liking many aspects of the season so far, but there are several flaws that can't be ignored. Some of the individual story lines have have slowed way down on some are just falling over themselves. It is interfering with the pacing of the show. Personally I think they need to slow everything down and devolp the characters, especially the new ones, better.

I'm finding it hard to review the season premier of Heroes, because I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. There were a lot of moments where I spotted plot holes, but I don't feel like I should take them into consideration because they will probably end up being explained and will no longer be a plot hole. They've done it before.

The episodes was very exciting, but as a season premier I thought it was a little disappointing. If the second season finale hadn't been the finale and these episodes had followed right after it like they were supposed to, I would probably feel more satisfied with the events of these episodes.

It's just that too much happens. And I mean too much and we are left too long in between story lines. I'll give an example: Sylar locates Claire at home and she manages to run and barricades herself in a closet, bam, we cut to a different scene and then a half hour later it comes back to Claire and Sylar. I had completely forgotten about them. Stuff like that made everything hard to follow.

There is virtually no progression of the plot. The premier was spent setting up tons of questions, story lines and new characters. Enough stuff to last the entire season. Well at least half of the season anyway.

For the most part I really liked the premier because I know that in the long run the episodes will fit right into place.
