WIDE RELEASE

NICK AND NORAH'S INFINITE PLAYLIST

Nick (Michael Cera) frequents New York's indie rock scene nursing a broken heart and a vague ability to play the bass. Norah (Kat Dennings) is questioning pretty much all of her assumptions about the world. Though they have nothing in common except for their taste in music, their chance encounter leads to an all-night quest to find a legendary band's secret show and ends up becoming the first date in a romance that could change both their lives.

At first I thought I wouldn't care about this movie. It looked original enough to catch my interest though and the more I hear or watch about this movie the more interested I become. Early reviews have been pretty good and I think this movie will gain a cult following within the teen crowd.

BEVERLY HILLS CHIHUAHUA

a pampered Beverly Hills Chihuahua named Chloe (voice of DREW BARRYMORE) finds herself accidentally lost in the mean streets of Mexico without a day spa or Rodeo Drive boutique anywhere in sight. Now alone for the first time in her spoiled life, she must rely on some unexpected new friends -- including a street-hardened German Shepherd named Delgado (voice of ANDY GARCIA) and an amorous pup named Papi (voice of GEORGE LOPEZ) -- to lend her a paw and help her to find her inner strength on their incredible journey back home.

I know that I am not the target demographic for this movie, but what can I say? It looks just awful. Like I said though, I'm not who the movie is directed too. A few reviews have popped up for the movie and they've been okay so far, stating the movie is cute and fun. You're kids will probably enjoy it.

FLASH OF GENIUS

Based on the true story of college professor and part-time inventor Robert Kearns’ (Greg Kinnear) long battle with the U.S. automobile industry, Flash of Genius tells the tale of one man whose fight to receive recognition for his ingenuity would come at a heavy price. But this determined engineer refused to be silenced, and he took on the corporate titans in a battle that nobody thought he could win.

This film looks like it could be surprisingly compelling, but I can't help but think: We've all seen this before. There are many movies out there with this same kind of premise. An underdog takes on an impossible task that no one thinks they can win but through determination they do. What I am interested in is if this film can bring something new spin to that kind of theme. Reviews have been pretty good so far so I'm excited to see it. I mostly want to see how the great cast works together.

LIMITED RELEASE

RACHEL GETTING MARRIED

Rachel Getting Married is a contemporary drama with an aggressive sense of humor about the return of an estranged daughter to the family home for her sister's wedding. Kym's (Hathaway) reemergence throws a wrench into the family dynamics, forcing long-simmering tensions to surface in ways both hilarious and heartbreaking. Rachel Getting Married paints a colorful, nuanced family portrait and is filled with the rich characters that have always been a hallmark of Jonathan Demme’s films.

To me, this movie looks like The Wedding Date meets The Family Stone. I wasn't a big fan of either of those movies so I'm not particularly excited for this movie. However it does seem like it could be a fairly moving drama. I am a big fan of Anne Hathaway, however. I think she has huge potential if she would pick better roles, which I think she has been lately. Early reviews have been good, giving a lot of praise to Hathaway's performance.

Are you going to see any of these movies?
