WIDE RELEASE

EAGLE EYE

Jerry Shaw (LaBeouf) and Rachel Holloman (Monaghan) are two strangers thrown together by a mysterious phone call from a woman they have never met. Threatening their lives and family, she pushes Jerry and Rachel into a series of increasingly dangerous situations – using the technology of everyday life to track and control their every move. As the situation escalates, these two ordinary people become the country's most wanted fugitives, who must work together to discover what is really happening – and more importantly, why.

I was excited for this movie when I first saw the trailer, but after reading some early reviews I'm not so excited anymore. They haven't been good. I'll probably still see it because I am a big fan of both of the leads. I'll watch anything with Shia LaBeouf in it. Even though early reviews have not been very good, I have no doubt this will be a commercial success.

MIRACLE AT ST. ANNA

Miracle at St. Anna chronicles the story of four black American soldiers who are members of the US Army as part of the all-black 92nd Buffalo Soldier Division stationed in Tuscany, Italy during World War II. They experience the tragedy and triumph of the war as they find themselves trapped behind enemy lines and separated from their unit after one of them risks his life to save an Italian boy.

I will admit that I didn't know much about this movie until this past week. The premise intrigues me, but just with Eagle Eye, it's early reviews are not so good either. I'm interested to see how this film is received by the general public

NIGHTS IN RODANTHE

Adrienne Willis (Diane Lane), a woman with her life in chaos, retreats to the tiny coastal town of Rodanthe, in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, to tend to a friend's inn for the weekend. Here she hopes to find the tranquility she so desperately needs to rethink the conflicts surrounding her--a wayward husband who has asked to come home, and a teenaged daughter who resents her every decision. Almost as soon as Adrienne gets to Rodanthe, a major storm is forecast and Dr. Paul Flanner (Richard Gere) arrives. The only guest at the inn, Flanner is not on a weekend escape but rather is there to face his own crisis of conscience. Now, with the storm closing in, the two turn to each other for comfort and, in one magical weekend, set in motion a life-changing romance that will resonate throughout the rest of their lives.

This film marks the third pairing of Lane and Gere. They previously appeared together in The Cotton Club, clear back in 1984, and most recently in Unfaithful in 2002. Early reviews have been good, stating that Gere and Lane have excellent on screen chemistry. I might just see this film... if I had a girlfriend to see it with.

LIMITED RELEASE

CHOKE

Victor Mancini is a medical-school dropout who has devised an ingenious scam to pay elder care for his Alzheimer's-afflicted mother: he pretends to choke on pieces of food while dining in upscale restaurants. He then allows himself to be "saved" by fellow patrons who, feeling responsible for Victor's life, go on to send checks to support him. When he's not pulling this stunt, Victor cruises sexual addiction recovery workshops for action, visits his addled mom, and spends his days working at a colonial theme park.

Of the films opening this week, Choke is the one I am looking forward to the most. I am a big fan of Sam Rockwell(Matchstick Men, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind) and early reviews have been pretty positive. Unfortunately this movie won't be coming to a theater near me, not for a while at least.

Will you be seeing any of these movies?
