Review: Bones Fourth Season Premier
September 4th 2008 03:45
In this episode we find Booth and Bones in London and are pulled into an investigation. The Booth and Bones chemistry was back and as good as ever. Perhaps even a little bit of foreshadowing mixed in there as well.
I was a little disappointed by everything that was happening back at the lab in Washington. Most of those scenes were good and they've been the that scenario before, where Bones is not present and they have to communicate via the internet, but it almost seems like the writers are struggling for story/character arcs. First Angela and Hodgins breaking up was completely unnecessary, ridiculous really. They realize that they might not trust each other as much as they thought and they split. After everything we've seen of these two THAT'S going to end their relationship? A truly weak attempt and some needed drama.
Also we get teased with Dr. Clark again only to have him decide that the drama of the lab is to much for him and he leaves. There is no way he would leave on the basis of that. This show has shown us that anyone else in Bones' field will pretty much kill to work with her, Clark gets the opportunity and he walks out because a bit of drama.
What was with the presence of Dr. Sweets? Don't get me wrong he is a great character and his scenes in these episodes were very funny, but there was absolutely no reason for his character to be at the lab. He was like the kid on the play ground hanging around a kickball game hoping someone will include him in the game. He was just kinda there, it was weird.
I enjoyed the season opener more than some episodes but not as much as others. I'm a afraid the show may have jumped the shark with last season's finale. They better find a way to make some of the twists of the story more interesting or they will find they audience slowly start to wane.
