I don't have words, right now, to describe how much I enjoyed this episode. Sure there have been better episodes, but this one was just fun and then some. It was like what Joss Whedon did with Once More With Feeling. He channeled his love of older musicals and made a musical episode out of it. It very similar to what the creative teams did with this episode, they channeled older monster movies and made an episode with tons of homage moments in it. Robert Singer and whomever the director of photography is, did a spectacular job with using the camera in the same fashion as those older movies.
Basically it was an episode from the first season, only with better writing and way more ambition and originality. It's amazing how much this show has grown and improved.
Everyone must have had a blast doing the whole episode, and you can tell that, on screen. I was getting a little annoyed by the black and white, but after a while I realized that there was no way they could have pulled this episode off in color.
