True Blood Series Premier

This show has a lot of promise. The pilot does a good job of creating enough interest to bring the viewer back for the next episode. Well the viewers who at least liked it more that hated it, and there will be quite a few haters. I enjoyed it more than I didn't so I'll tune in for the next episode.
There were several moments that almost turned me off completely. First, several of the southern accents were just atrocious. There was basically zero chemistry between Sookie (Anna Paquin) and the vampire, Bill (Stephen Moyer), but it was the first episode, you can't expect everyone to work perfect together. You're also going to have suspend belief with the fact that vampires walk amongst us because there is fabricated synthetic blood now and they aren't a danger for humans anymore. I found that premise kinda weak.
Also the plot progression kinda stops and starts. After something significant happens everything slows way down for a bit. It reminded me of Twilight in that way and it was annoying.
On the plus side, the acting was good, for the most part, and the characters are interesting, well most of them. The show doesn't take itself too seriously and I like that, it makes it more enjoyable. The satire they were portraying was cool, but it was a little heavy for my taste. Got a little goofy sometimes and sometimes it seemed like they were beating you over the head with it.
So the pilot episode was more good than bad, but they better work out the kinks fast before people lose interest.
