Pushing Daisies: Circus Circus

October 9th 2008 18:49

This episode was everything we have come to expect from this series. Personally I found the case itself a tad bland, but it did provide us with some character development for Emerson. It gave us some insight to some of his motivations.

The blandness of the case was definitely over shadowed by the quirkiness and sharp wit of the writing. I think people are starting to appreciate the narrator more, more so than they are ready do. I think the narrator has some of the best line of the show and the writers use him perfectly. It reminds me a lot of Ron Howard's narration on Arrested Development.

The episode also had a few very touching moments especially the scene when Vivian shows up at the Pie Hole. I mean, I felt really sorry for her.

Overall this was a good episode, but it had a tough act to follow with last week's excellent season opener.

Bones: The He in the She

October 9th 2008 17:19

This was a very good episode. In fact this is the kind of episode that fans love and what made the show popular in the first place.

What made this a good episode was the case. It was interesting and full of twists. It was very original and it reminded me a lot of many of the first season cases. The dialogue was also very sharp, with several laugh out loud lines.

I thought bringing in David Gallagher(7th Heaven) to guest star this week as the son of the victim was a nice touch. His scenes with Booth were very good and I found his performance at the very end to be very touching.

T.J. Thyne(Hodgins) has been impressing me with his performances. Ever since the untimely exit of Zach, his character has become more irritable and cynical, if that's possible. Thyne has incorporated those attributes into his performance very well and I love the subtly of it.

One thing I didn't like was Ryan Cartwright as the new intern Vincent Nigel-Murray. Out of all the new interns we've met so far this season he was the least likable and interesting, in my opinion. I'm beginning to long for Clark to come back, that is since Zach will never be able to come back to work at the lab.

I've been hearing a lot of reports that this show is dangerously close to being canceled. I really hope this isn't true because this show has so much potential. But that hasn't stopped FOX in the past. Does anyone remember Firefly and the severely under appreciated Point Pleasant. At least they've had the good sense of extending their order from 13 episodes to 22 episodes for Fringe However, hearing talk of cancellation gets me thinking about the show's end game. How DOES Josh Friedman see the show ending. I mean, I honestly can only see the show ending the same way as Terminator 3 did or something similar to that. To end it in a completely different way would be nonsense.

Anyway, about this episode. This could easily the best episode so far. A couple episodes give it a run for it's money, but in my opinion it's the best so far. If this show has done anything it has done a great job of extending the already existing mythology or creating new mythology. This episode gives us a big glimpse into the future and it was so cool. We get to learn a lot more about Derek and John learns something big about what kind of person he is in the future. How would you react to find out that in the future there are people who are willing to die for you. that's some pretty heavy stuff.

I've never really paid much attention to the score, but I really noticed it in this episode and I thought it was beautiful.

One other thing I have to mention is at the end when John and Derek are fighting the 888 and back at home Sarah and a boy she saved are reading The Wizard of Oz and it's like the story is providing the narration for the fight. It was a very well done scene and it was very powerful.

What did you think of the episode?

This episode was not as intense as the show usually is, but it was still a very memorable episode thanks to some pretty funny moments and clever twists

Heroes: I Am Become Death

Personally, I really liked this episode, but again we get teased with the future and we'll probably never get the whole story of how everyone gets together.

While I liked this episode, well more than I didn't like it, I can't help but think: Didn't they do this already? Isn't this what the whole first season was about, trying to keep a disaster in the future from happening? Now it's just a different disaster. I don't like it so far, cause no matter how much you try and influence the past or present, it will never be perfect. You keep one bad thing from happening, there's just another one that will inevitably happen, so what, are you just going to keep going to the past to change things over and over

Chuck: Chuck Versus the Seduction

October 7th 2008 03:35

This was a very good episode. It was one of the more clever episodes they've done. I am very good at picking up subtleties in actor's performances and director's... direction. There was a lot of subtle humor and a great attention to detail that hasn't really been done on the show, as well as they did it in this episode

My initial feelings toward Cassidy Freeman(Tess Mercer) were pretty negative. I really didn't think she was a good fit for the show. She has been growing on me since the premier and I kind of like her now. The writers have created a very interesting and mysterious character and, thanks to this episode, I am intrigued to find out more about her

Bones: The Crank in the Shaft

This was an okay episode. Nothing really wrong with it, but nothing really exciting either. However, I thought the dialogue was particularly clever and witty. There were several funny moments. The episode was written by Elizabeth Benjamin who also wrote The Santa in the Slush, which is regarded as one of the best episodes

Pushing Daisies: Bzzzzzzz!

October 2nd 2008 02:45

Where do I even start to talk about how amazing this show is. This show sets the standard for set design, costumes and make up. I've studied film and theater and I know how difficult it can be to make everything on screen work together. But this show does it wonderfully, it's so bright and colorful yet dark and gothic at the same time. This show is right up my alley

Fringe: The Arrival

Every time I start watching a new show I wait for the episode that presents the audience with something that really roots their interest in the show. Something that makes you say "Things just got interesting" I believe this was that episode for Fringe. It was for me anyway

House: Adverse Events

October 1st 2008 03:26

Ever since the premier the show has stepped up the character development and conflict between House and his fellows. It has made the show more interesting, but I think the the whole creative team is trying too hard to stir up the conflict because they know it will get more people watching. I could be wrong, but that's what I see

Typically I hate this phrase, but at the end of the episode I said "Oh, Snap!" It was appropriate I thought

Summer Glau really stood out this week in her performance. She basically had to play three different people. The terminator, before she was reprogrammed, Alison from Palmdale, and a memory lost Cameron. It was a very impressive performance. It reminded me of that episode of Angel where Amy Acker had to play both Fred and Illyria. However I am kinda unclear on what happened with the memory loss thing. Did she just suddenly get it back at the end of the episode

So we find out that Lilith is the one who is trying to bring about the Apocalypse and that Dean was brought back to help stop her. So right now I am wondering something. Isn't Sam supposed to be more powerful than Lilith? They made that pretty clear in the season finale. Why is God so concerned about recruiting Dean when Sam is right there? Don't get me wrong, I love the show and this episode, but right now that's kind of a hole. They'll most likely explain it somewhere down the road, but am I the only one wondering this

Clark helps some victims of a bus crash

Superman is one of my favorite comic book characters. So many people diss him because he's too perfect or he's invulnerable, and that makes him boring. Wrong, look deeper and you'll see a completely selfless person. No matter how small or insignificant the person or situation, Superman not only will save the day but uplift and encourage someone to be a better person

Dr. Addy is back(for now) and ready to help solve the case

Well this episode changes the way I feel about the season finale. Not much, but still a little bit. The reveal at the end of the episode with Dr. Addy and Dr. Sweets actually made me yell "No Way!" And now, having a chance to think about the reveal, I realize that it opens up a huge story line involving Dr. Addy. Huge and exciting
