Chuck: Chuck Versus the Break-Up

October 14th 2008 03:27

Every show, worth watching(which I know is a matter of opinion) has moments that fans of the particular show will talk about a lot, even after the show has gone off the air. This episode of Chuck has one of those moments. The scene at the end with Sarah and Chuck talking outside of his place is the most honest and emotional scene so far in the series.

This show is so great at showing instead of telling. This episode showed us just how much Sarah's feelings for Chuck have affected her. Chuck has not only affected Sarah, but we have seen that he has had an impact of Casey as well. And it doesn't stop at that, he has affected us as well. Zachary Levi has created such a likable character that he has won over audiences.

I am a fan of Adam Baldwin as an actor. He was perfect on Firefly and wonderful on his small role on Angel. I've been thinking that he has been a little underused on this show. Not so with this episode. I thought he was used to great effect. His scene when he shows up and shoots the Fulcrum agent, saving Chuck, with the money on his shoulder and Von Hayes in tow was just awesome. I hope he gets more great moments like this.

I want to mention one more thing. While sometimes humorous, the Buy More employee subplots are getting old. It's like, "well we've got these other characters at the Buy More, we've gotta find something for them to be doing. I know lets create crazy antics they keep getting themselves into". I like I said, sometimes humorous, but most of the time I find myself willing the show back to what Chuck is doing.

Smallville: Instinct

Maxima from Superman: The Animated Series

The story arc between Lois and Clark's relationship, and what they will be in the future, takes a bounding leap forward in this episode. From what I can tell, next week's episode is going to do it again. The the writers are constantly hinting toward Lois and Clark's future relationship, but it's usually pretty cheesy. So finally, instead of just hinting about it, they actually start moving toward it.

I can't say that I am a big fan of guest star Charlotte Sullivan's performance as Maxima. It didn't seem like there was any depth to the character, but that might not be her fault. I mean, how much can you actually do with a character in only one episode. While the character herself was a little dull, she served her purpose. She acted as a catalyst to start bringing Lois feelings for Clark to the surface.

This season is certainly keeping the momentum it started with the premier. The episodes have been consistently above average. And is it just me, or was it pretty obvious that the email Tess got at the end was from Lex?

Supernatural: Metamorphosis

October 10th 2008 18:02

This was a well crafted, thought out episode. I say that because of the way the case paralleled Sam's internal conflict. A lot of the things that Sam tried to talk to Jack about was like he was saying it to himself. It's can be dangerous to do an episode like this because it can easily become very contrived, but not so with this episode.

The dialogue for this episode was as good as it has ever been in this series. In a way, the writing of Supernatural reminds me a lot of the way Buffy and Angel were written. A scene will be emotional or intense, but then the next second something funny is said or happens. The writers pull that off so well, the timing is perfect.

This episode also showcased Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles's acting abilities. It was really top notch in this episode as they had to show a wide range of emotions and stay on top of the sharp dialogue. I think some people take the acting in TV shows too lightly sometimes. It really can make or break a show or episode. A poorly cast guest star can ruin an entire episode.

So far this season is shaping up to be some of the best stuff ever put on television. All of the episodes of the season so far have rated above a 9 on TV.com, with two of the episodes already in the show's current top ten on TV.com

Pushing Daisies: Circus Circus

This episode was everything we have come to expect from this series. Personally I found the case itself a tad bland, but it did provide us with some character development for Emerson. It gave us some insight to some of his motivations

Bones: The He in the She

This was a very good episode. In fact this is the kind of episode that fans love and what made the show popular in the first place

I've been hearing a lot of reports that this show is dangerously close to being canceled. I really hope this isn't true because this show has so much potential. But that hasn't stopped FOX in the past. Does anyone remember Firefly and the severely under appreciated Point Pleasant. At least they've had the good sense of extending their order from 13 episodes to 22 episodes for Fringe However, hearing talk of cancellation gets me thinking about the show's end game. How DOES Josh Friedman see the show ending. I mean, I honestly can only see the show ending the same way as Terminator 3 did or something similar to that. To end it in a completely different way would be nonsense

This episode was not as intense as the show usually is, but it was still a very memorable episode thanks to some pretty funny moments and clever twists

Heroes: I Am Become Death

Personally, I really liked this episode, but again we get teased with the future and we'll probably never get the whole story of how everyone gets together.

While I liked this episode, well more than I didn't like it, I can't help but think: Didn't they do this already? Isn't this what the whole first season was about, trying to keep a disaster in the future from happening? Now it's just a different disaster. I don't like it so far, cause no matter how much you try and influence the past or present, it will never be perfect. You keep one bad thing from happening, there's just another one that will inevitably happen, so what, are you just going to keep going to the past to change things over and over

Chuck: Chuck Versus the Seduction

This was a very good episode. It was one of the more clever episodes they've done. I am very good at picking up subtleties in actor's performances and director's... direction. There was a lot of subtle humor and a great attention to detail that hasn't really been done on the show, as well as they did it in this episode

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 2

October 4th 2008 02:36

Season 2 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer could arguably be the best of the 7 seasons. Out of TV.com's current top 10 rated episodes of Buffy, season 2 has the most in the top 10, with 3(Becoming Part 2, Passion, and Innocence), BUT we also got some real stinkers(Some Assembly Required, Inca Mummy Girl, Bad Eggs
